How does this work?
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the basics?
- You (or your parent) create an account and log your reading during the readathon.
- You will see your individual reading log, minutes read, and tickets earned.
- You can also set individual reading goals such as total minutes, minutes per day, or total books.
- For every 30 minutes you read, you earn a ticket to be redeemed for prizes (in school, after the Thanksgiving break) or to be entered into a raffle.
- Your minutes will also count towards your grade and homeroom totals. You can view the leaderboards to see which grades and classrooms are reading the most!
How do I earn and spend tickets?
- For every 30 minutes you read, you will earn one ticket.
- You can redeem up to 25 tickets at a prize store, courtesy the PTA, to be held in school after the readathon ends.
- Any tickets beyond 25 are automatically entered into raffle drawings.
How do I log my reading?
- When you are logged in, click on "Add Entry" at the top of the page to log your reading.
- You must enter a date (past dates are fine) and the number of minutes read.
- Bonus for Spanish or Portuguese: Enter double the number of minutes you read!
- Any entry of 60 minutes or more will require you to specify a title and author.
- You cannot log more than 180 minutes in a single entry. (But feel free to log multiple entries for a single book.)
- You cannot log more than 600 minutes in a single day.
- Remember, this is just for fun, so please participate responsibly.
What counts as reading?
- Pretty much any publication -- books, poetry, periodicals, etc.
- What about audiobooks? Yes, absolutely!
